Happy Mother's Day!
This morning in our kitchen:
Joep & Calvin enter with a Mother's Day card and 2 small gifts wrapped in newspaper (thanks, Mom!).
Joep: "Calvin, give Mama the presents."
Calvin thinks about whether or not he wants to do this, since doing so would mean he'd actually have to give up the pretty package.
Calvin decides to hand it over.
Joep: "Calvin, say 'Happy Mama's Day, Mama!'"
Calvin: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAMA!!"Comments:Add a comment:

Running Commentary
As I've mentioned before, Calvin has this knack for running commentary on everyday things. I just know he's going to be a sports announcer when he grows up.
Case in point: Thursday evening Joep & I celebrated our 5th anniversary and decided to splurge and head out to dinner.
Since we had He Who Is Unable To Distinguish Between Indoor & Outdoor Voices, we decided to choose a family-friendly venue and headed to our local Applebee's for our anniversary dinner.
True to form, Calvin engaged in his running commentary most of the night, including the moment he was stricken with a rear itch and informed the neighboring tables that he was, in fact, scratching his butt.
And just in case we all didn't hear him the first 12 times, he repeated it a few dozen more. All while scratching said itch.
Through suppressed laughter, I told him to lower his voice and finish his dinner so we could go home and have some anniversary ice cream cake, at which point his eyes popped out of his head and rolled across the floor at the prospect of consuming such copious amounts of sugar.
Not counting the butt scratching announcement, Calvin was surprisingly well-behaved at the restaurant and even scored a blue balloon from the waitress as a reward. And then the running commentary switched from his itchy butt to his blue balloon with the yellow ribbon all. the. way. home. I was so proud.Comments:Add a comment:
